The short version
  • Free to enter and open year-round — come at sunrise or golden hour for the light and the quiet.
  • Row the short canal under tiled alcoves, one for every province of Spain.
  • Pair it with a shaded loop of María Luisa Park next door.

When and how to visit

Built for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition, Plaza de España is Seville's grandest open-air set piece — a half-moon of tiled bridges, painted province alcoves and a rowable canal. It is busiest mid-morning to mid-afternoon; arrive early or late for the best light and the fewest people.
